Dominic Heale confirms next career move after leaving BBC East Midlands Today

Former BBC East Midlands Today host Dominic Heale has confirmed his next career move after stepping down from the programme after 20 years.

The 'hugely talented' presenter left the BBC's flagship news show in the region last October, saying it had been a joy and privilege to work on the programme.

Dominic spent just over a decade presenting the news on ITV Central, and then 20 years on the red sofa of East Midlands Today.

It has now been confirmed he will deliver media training training and communications advice with PLC media, a Leicester-based company set up in 2013 by former regional news presenter Dan Baker.

Dominic said: "I'm really excited to be working with Dan and the team at PLC Media. I'm looking forward to supporting and helping people from all walks of life and all sectors of business to improve their communication and media skills.

"Dan and I worked together for many years at ITV Central and it's great to be working with him again."

Dan added: "I’m thrilled that Dominic will be delivering training for our clients, both online and in-person.

"He brings such incredible authority and gravitas to the training, and offers such sage, considered support and advice.

"And of course it’s always great to see how blown away people are to find themselves face-to-face with such a TV legend as Dominic. It’s wonderful to have him on board.”

During Dominic's career he interviewed a number of celebrities and senior politicians, including Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair.

Reflection on his career, he said: "A definite high was interviewing Felicity Kendall - like most boys I had a crush on her in the seventies.

"Winning a major award for coverage of the discovery of King Richard III from a car park in Leicester was truly memorable.

"A low point came when I was working in radio: I recorded an interview with Neil Kinnock at an airport and then realised, just after his plane had taken off, that there was no tape in my tape recorder."
