Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Arsenal transfer: Champions League ambitions and a £60m price tag

Mikel Arteta will likely face a summer striker rebuild when the 2021/22 Premier League campaign comes to an end.

Alexandre Lacazette's contract runs out in the summer, as does Eddie Nketiah's. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is 32. So there is no doubt then that Arsenal may well be in the market for a new striker as they continue their rebuild under Arteta.

Folarin Balogun is still progressing, but at just 20 years old he doesn't have the experience to lead the club right now back into the Champions League.

At 24, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has the Premier League, as well as international, experience to do just that and fire the Gunners back to where they want to be.

The Everton striker has been regularly linked with a move to north London and here is everything you need to know.

He's happy on Merseyside...for now

When linked with a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur, Calvert-Lewin said he was happy playing for Everton.

With the transfer window closed, the England striker stayed with the Toffees but did mention he had ambitions of playing in the Champions League.

"I am happy at Everton,” he told L’Equipe in June. "I worked hard to become number nine at this club and score goals like I did recently. Personally, I have the ambition to one day play in the Champions League and win titles.

"But for now, I'm happy at Everton."

Arsenal have not played in Europe's top club cup competition since 2017.

Manchester United paid £73million for Jadon Sancho in the summer and Tottenham Hotspur wanted over double that for Harry Kane.

Calvert-Lewin is going to be an expensive signing and former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believes it will cost the club over £60m to prise him away from Everton.
