Dominic Calvert-Lewin sent awards message by Carlo Ancelotti as Ben Godfrey honoured

Carlo Ancelotti has challenged Dominic Calvert-Lewin to 'stay at the top' after the Everton striker took home double honours from the club's end of season awards.

Leading scorer Calvert-Lewin was voted the Player of the Season and also the Players' Player of the Season after a campaign which has seen his bag 16 Premier League goals, ahead of the final game of the term.

Ben Godfrey was given the Young Player of the Season award, and received a glowing tribute from director of football Marcel Brands, while Richarlison's goal at Anfield was named Goal of the Season.

Izzy Christiansen has been named Everton Women's Player of the Season with goalkeeper Sandy MacIver the team's Young Player of the Season.

Defender Ryan Astley has tonight scooped the under-23s Player of the Season.

The other honours that usually awarded at the end of each season - including the Everton Giant, the Chairman's Blueblood Award and the latest recipient of The People's Club Award - will be presented at a special event later in the year.

But Calvert-Lewin has been honoured this evening and Ancelotti said he was fully deserving of the accolade - but was keen to keep the 23-year-old on his toes.

Ancelotti said: “Dominic is a complete striker: tall, good with the head and fast and strong.

“This season, he arrived at the top. The difficulty is to stay there.

“You have to be stronger and more focused and more concentrated. He has everything to stay at the top for a long time.”

Summer signing Godfrey quickly established himself at Goodison following his £20m move from Norwich and Brands said: “Ben had a huge impact from the day he arrived.

“He showed good character and good quality in all positions and is a great lad.”

Richarlison, on the goal that set Everton on course for a famous win over Liverpool, said: “It was a very special goal because of how long we’d gone without winning at Anfield.

“This [award] was one of my aims for the season and, although I know I could have achieved more, I’m really happy with the confidence you’ve shown in me by voting for me for goal of the season.”

Fan of the Year went to Joe Moore, who has completed various endurance challenges to raise nearly £20,000 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and a special needs club.

Jazz Bal, Everton Fans’ Forum Chairperson, said “Joe has overcome adversity to help others, he is not only a top Blue but a brilliant person.”

Duncan Ferguson informed Joe of his win and said: “What an incredible achievement, Joe, we are all so proud of you at Everton and would like to thank you for all your support and hard work.”
