Dominic Calvert-Lewin sends Premier League warning as Everton look to achieve goals

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has described the quality that he believes Everton will need to keep themselves at the top end of the Premier League for the rest of the 2020/21 season.

The Blues begun the campaign in fantastic fashion, winning seven games in all competitions to propel them to the top of the division - but suffered a dip in form across October and November.

However, Carlo Ancelotti's side have now won three league matches on the spin heading into their Boxing Day clash with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

And the striker, who has already bagged 11 Premier League goals so far this season, believes there is one key factor that will be crucial in separating a tight race for the top places in the division.

He told BT Sport : "I think everybody looks at the table don't they? But I think everyone's aware it can change quickly.

"We'd slipped down a little bit, but then you put three wins together and you're right back up there.

"I think it's the teams that can kind of stay the most consistent and perhaps grind out results when you're not playing too well that will "ultimately be up there at the end of the season.

"We started the season really well and then a slight dip in form and we kind of lost our identity a bit.

"But credit to the lads and the gaffer to kind of switch it up a little bit and get us back playing well, doing what seems to be working at the moment."

Calvert-Lewin is currently the joint-second top scorer in the division after a flying start to the campaign.

His goalscoring exploits have earned him call-ups to the England setup and done a lot to win over any doubters that he had from the start of his time at Everton.

He set himself a target to beat at the start of this term and he hopes to continue scoring in an attempt to surpass that figure as soon as possible.

"The system we've been playing has suited me and I've flourished in that sense, and continue to score goals,2 he added.

"I always give myself a certain number of goals I want to hit and go past at the start of a season. I've started this season well and scored a few goals, but the most important thing is that I play well even when I'm not scoring goals.

"I love scoring goals and I want to score every game. I'm hoping to score a few more."
