Dominic Calvert-Lewin sends message of support to Sunderland new boy Nathan Broadhead

England’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has written a good luck message to Sunderland’s new forward Nathan Broadhead.

The Black Cats new boy made his debut as substitute in the defeat to Burton on Tuesday night, and is again in contention for this weekend's League One game with AFC Wimbledon.

Broadhead, who left Goodison Park to sign with Sunderland on a season-long loan, posted a photograph of himself in his new club’s shirt on Instagram, with the Sunderland crest behind him. Everton star Calvert-Lewin then chipped in to tell Broadhead, “All the best Broady”.

Others who offered comments included Everton, who wished him the best of luck, as well as other Everton players such as Demarai Gray, Imam Jagne and Jonjoe Kenny, who told Broadhead, “All the best lad.”

Clearly well thought of by the Everton squad, 23-year-old Broadhead completed the temporary move into League One football earlier this week, having recently signed a two-year contract to continue his career at Goodison Park.

Broadhead was born in Wales but joined Everton when he was just 10 years old. He made it into the first team squad back in 2017, and made his debut that same year.

However, like many young Premier League players, he is having to turn elsewhere for those vital regular minutes on the pitch. As such, in 2019 he headed to Burton Albion on loan and made 22 appearances for the club.

Last season he returned to the Toffees, earning a place on the bench and making his Premier League debut in April against Brighton.

He has also played for his national team Wales at various junior levels, including for Wales U-20s.
