Dominic Calvert-Lewin issues blunt statement about Everton's form

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has issued a blunt statement to his Everton team-mates after saying that the squad's standards have slipped.

The Blues unbeaten start to the season came to an end at Southampton and followed that up with a defeat at Newcastle United on Sunday, to suffer consecutive league defeats in the Premier League under Carlo Ancelotti.

Calvert-Lewin's poacher's finish gave the Blues hope of an unlikely comeback against Newcastle but they could not find an equaliser in the time that remained.

This weekend, Everton return to Goodison where they welcome Manchester United (Saturday, 12:30pm) and top-scorer Calvert-Lewin has delivered a straight-to-the-point message today, ahead of that game.

"Fallen below the standards we set ourselves in the last couple of weeks," he wrote on social media

"Got to be better.

"Starts Saturday."

Calvert-Lewin has eight league goals so far this season and tops the charts along with Spurs' Son Heung-Min.
