Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has expressed his disappointment after the winning streak for Carlo Ancelotti's side came to an end against Liverpool.
The in-form forward scored the equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park, levelling after earlier goals from Sadio Mane, Michael Keane and Mohamed Salah.
However, the 10-year wait for a Merseyside derby win continues following the result and Everton will feel that today was a golden opportunity to secure bragging rights.
Numerous chances were missed during the game and Everton paid for a slow start, which Calvert-Lewin couldn't explain, but believes a win against Liverpool is coming.
“It’s coming, I genuinely believed it was coming and that today would be the day that we would do it but it wasn’t to be so we’ll go on until the next one," he said.
“I can’t really put my finger on why we came out of the blocks so, we’d be doing well and we knew that momentum was on our side, we were confident going into the game.
"But sometimes it happens where you start the game a little bit slow, they went ahead early doors, but it just shows that we’ve made strides with getting back in the game and then we’re unfortunate not to kick on and go ahead, Richarlison hit the post as well, so we had chances to win it but we didn’t take them today.
“I’m disappointed we didn’t win the game and I wanted to win today, I know all the fans did to, so in that respect it’s frustrating.
"But like you say, in terms of the bigger picture, we’ve got a point today and we take it onto the next game, we keep building, we didn’t lose and we want to keep that unbeaten run going.”
