Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton and why Toffees might not need a new striker

One of the central figures in Everton’s resurgence has been Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The 22-year-old has led the line in the last six matches that have seen the Blues bag 13 points from a possible 18.

Calvert-Lewin sealed the morale-boosting win at Cardiff City and then took his tally for the term to eight in the one aberration in that fine run of form – the inexplicable 3-2 defeat at Newcastle United.

But the England Under-21 international saved his best performance of the season – and possibly in an Everton shirt – for Sunday’s 1-0 win over Arsenal at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin bullied the Gunners’ backline and on afternoon when there were so many contenders for the man-of-the-match award, for many Blues, the young striker was the stand-out performer.
