Dominic Calvert-Lewin comments on the Everton dressing room mood after dismal Brighton defeat

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has revealed the frustration of the Everton dressing room after a dismal defeat to Brighton on Saturday.

The Blues lost 3-2 on the south coast after a strike from Pascal Gross, a controversial Neal Maupay penalty and a Lucas Digne on goal late on gave the hosts all three points.

An Adam Webster own goal and a second half strike from Calvert-Lewin, coming off the bench, had put Marco Silva's side 2-1 up before VAR handed the Seagulls a highly questionable route back into the match.

And the striker admitted going on to concede another goal in added time to lose the match was hugely disappointing for the whole dressing room after the game.

"We're unbelievably frustrated to go in the lead so late on and then to end up not even coming away with a draw," Calvert-Lewin told evertonfc.com .

"It's extremely disappointing for the lads and the club.

"I'm extremely disappointed and the mood in the dressing room is disappointed but we've got a massive game on Tuesday that we need to concentrate on now and get going again."

Calvert-Lewin was introduced with the game finely poised and scored shortly after making his way onto the pitch - his fifth goal in as many matches for Everton.

However, the final result took the sheen off another impactful display from the striker.

"It's always the same for me. It was at a stage of the game where we were level and it's my job to come on and make an impact.

"But, as I said, we're disappointed with the final result and we've got to get ready for a massive game for us now."
