MUMBAI: Domestic airlines carried 11.6 million passengers in November as compared to 10.5 million passengers flown in November last year, registering a growth of 11%, showed monthly traffic data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Monday.
Between January and November this year, domestic airlines flew a total of 110 million passengers as against the 72 million carried in the corresponding period of the previous year, thus registering an annual growth of about 52%,
Vistara and GoFirst had the highest passenger load factor on their domestic flights, registering 91.7% and 91.3% respectively.
When it came to flight cancellations, technical problems accounted for about 42 %, followed by weather at 32%. In the next two months as winter sets in North India, fog-related delays and cancellations are expected to be the top reason for flight disruptions.
The aviation regulator computes domestic airlines' on-time performance based on flight schedule punctuality registered at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
For these airports, IndiGo, which holds a market share of 56%, had the best on-time performance, with 92.5% of its flights arriving or departing on time. It was followed by Air India with an OTP of 88,2 %, Vistara with 86.6% and AirAsia India with an OTP of 75%.
