Domenico Berardi, Calum Chambers - The latest Arsenal transfer rumours ahead of January window

The January transfer window is fast approaching.

As a number of players are set to miss at least a few weeks of action because of the Africa Cup of Nations, Edu may need to dip into the market to add to Mikel Arteta's Arsenal squad.

Meanwhile, some players' have uncertain futures at the Emirates.

The likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are coming to the end of their contracts at the club and may well benefit from a January move.

With that all in mind, let's take a look at some of the latest rumours surrounding the club.

Arsenal have reportedly touched base over signing Berardi in January.

The north Londoners have made contact with Sassuolo over signing the 27-year-old winger this winter and are making good strides in their attempts.

According to the report, Arsenal have ‘knocked’ on the Serie A club’s door but, with Fiorentina also in the mix, there’s a lot of work for the English side to do.

The Serie A giants are going through a tough spell and Jose Mourinho wants to bring in reinforcements in January, especially in the right-back position.

Arsenal are believed to be open to offers for Chambers in the winter transfer window and he is also looking to move on, so Roma could be a suitable option.

Cedric Soares is ready to battle for his place at the Emirates, despite being linked with a move away from north London in January.

"I'm there fighting," he said.

"Every week, every day, I will be there knocking [on the door], making him a problem - in a good way - that he needs to think who to put on the pitch.

"Of course, it is his [Arteta's] decision. I respect that and he knows that. But I will not make it easier. Never. This is how I grow up in my career: fight and win."
