Dolphins WR Jakeem Grant hopes to be healthy for training camp

A heel injury prematurely ended Jakeem Grant 2018 season. But the Dolphins’ wide receiver was on hand participating in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge Celebrity Golf Tournament on Friday.

When speaking to reporters, Grant was unsure when he would be 100 percent healthy.

“I don’t know,” Grant said. “I’m working towards that, but if not, I’m getting better each and every day.”

When he was asked about being completely healthy for training camp in July, Grant was still unsure.

“I would say I should be,” Grant said. “I’m not going to say I’ll be 100 percent. I’m always working every single day to try to get better and get out there with my boys.”

Although he is the shortest player on the team’s roster, Grant is one of the most explosive players on the Dolphins. In 10 games last season, Grant recorded a career-high 21 receptions for 268 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 12.8 yards per catch.

Grant also was a factor in the Dolphins return game as he averaged 16.2 yards per punt return and 29.7 per kick return. He also scored a kick return and a punt return touchdown last season.

Expect the Dolphins to take a cautious approach to Grant with him coming off a lower leg injury.
