Dolphins worked out two other QBs before signing Reid Sinnett

With Tua Tagovailoa in concussion protocol and just Teddy Bridgewater and Skylar Thompson on the roster, the Miami Dolphins started the week looking for a third quarterback to add to their practice squad.

Head coach Mike McDaniel announced on Monday that they had landed on Reid Sinnett, who was in Miami for parts of 2020 and 2021, but he wasn’t the only option.

According to the NFL’s transaction wire, the Dolphins also had Jake Fromm and Ben DiNucci in for workouts.

DiNucci was a seventh-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys back in 2020. He played in three games as a rookie (starting one), completing 53.4% of his attempts for 219 yards and a 67.8 passer rating.

Fromm was expected to be a top pick in 2020, but he fell to the fifth round where he was selected by the Buffalo Bills. After spending the first few months of his second season on Buffalo’s practice squad, he was signed by the New York Giants. He played three games (starting two), completing 45% of his attempts for 210 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.

Sinnett was probably the right call for now, but keep these names in mind just in case there’s another injury.
