The NFL, in partnership with the Black College Football Hall of Fame, is contributing a ton of NFL executives and coaches to participate in the 2019 NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit. The 2019 Summit will be held in late June in Atlanta, Georgia — the NFL sees the event as a promising opportunity to make good on some of their diversity initiatives.
Offensive coaches are in hot demand — particularly quarterback coaches and offensive coordinators. Seemingly any time there’s a coaching search at the NFL level, the first names attached to the gig are quarterback gurus. As the NFL looks to create more diversity in their head coaches and executives, they understand the need for a more diverse set of candidates who meet the desired criteria — hence the initiative and why a quarterback summit is a logical venue to invest manpower.
The Miami Dolphins — the only team this offseason to hire a minority head coach — will be well represented at the 2019 NFL Quarterback Coaching Summit. A list of current attendees has been released and general manager Chris Grier, assistant head coach Jim Caldwell and wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell will all be contributing to the event as speakers.
Two former Miami Dolphins will also be attending and speaking — quarterback Pat White (now the Alcorn State QB coach) and former Dolphins executive and current Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.
Other notable speakers scheduled for the event include former Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, former Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, Eagles VP of Football Ops Howie Roseman and many others.
