Dolphins trade Minkah Fitzpatrick to Steelers for 2020 1st-round pick

The brief stay of safety Minkah Fitzpatrick with the Miami Dolphins is officially over. Less than a year and a half after the Dolphins made Fitzpatrick the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Fitzpatrick is on the move — he’s been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers according to multiple sources.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter had it first, dropping the bombshell news less than an hour ago on social media.

The Dolphins acquiring a 1st-round pick from the Steelers is notable, most specifically because the Steelers endured the loss of veteran QB Ben Roethlisberger this weekend. Roethlisberger hurt his right (throwing) elbow and has been placed on injured reserve — he will be done for the season. If the Steelers flounder without “Big Ben”, Miami will benefit with a very high selection courtesy of the Steelers — perhaps even higher than the 11th pick Miami used on Fitzpatrick back in 2018.

Stay tuned for more reaction to this breaking news.
