Dolphins trade for 2019 second-round OT Greg Little

The Miami Dolphins needed another offensive lineman to throw into preseason competition and found one in a trade with the Carolina Panthers.

The Dolphins made a move for 2019 second-round pick Greg Little on Tuesday afternoon, according to the NFL Network. Miami is sending Carolina a 2022 seventh-round pick.

Little, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive tackle, has had an underwhelming first two NFL seasons after being the No. 37 pick in the 2019 draft. He started three games at left tackle each of the past two seasons, with both ending with him placed on injured reserve by December.

Little gets a fresh start in Miami while the Dolphins get a new body for depth at a position where they need help. Miami left tackle Austin Jackson, a 2020 first-round pick, struggled against the Bears in Saturday’s preseason opener in Chicago.

The Dolphins were also without Jesse Davis, who has been playing right tackle for much of training camp, at Tuesday’s walkthrough practice. Rookie Liam Eichenberg, who was playing left guard until he got hurt in one of last week’s joint practices with the Bears, was back at right tackle on Tuesday in Davis’ absence.

Other tackles on the Dolphins roster include Adam Pankey and Larnel Coleman. Robert Hunt also played right tackle last season, but the team has shifted him inside to guard. The Dolphins cut tackles Jonathan Hubbard and Timon Parris at the Tuesday 4 p.m. deadline to get down to 85 players.

Little, an Ole Miss grad, was first-team All-SEC in 2018 and earned second-team all-conference honors in 2017. He was also a high school All-American out of Allen, Texas.
