Dolphins to sign veteran wide receiver Allen Hurns

The Miami Dolphins are adding to their wide receiver room in 2019. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Dolphins are signing wide receiver Allen Hurns to a one-year contract worth up to $3 million.

Hurns, who last played for the Dallas Cowboys and was cut earlier this week by the team, is a product of the University of Miami and played his first four seasons of NFL football in Florida with the Jacksonville Jaguars. His best season came in 2015 as a second-year pro, when he logged 64 receptions for 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Hurns brings vertical receiving to the Dolphins — an area that Miami has struggled with in recent years due in part to shaky offensive line play and unconfident quarterback play over the last two seasons.

The next question for Hurns is, how healthy is he? The last time we saw Hurns on an NFL field, he was being carted off after suffering a gruesome leg injury in the NFC playoffs. If Hurns is on the field for practice this morning, it should tell Dolphins fans everything they need to know.
