Dolphins sign 3rd-round pick Michael Deiter

It is now official — the Miami Dolphins have inked their entire 2019 NFL Draft class. The lone holdout for the Dolphins, 3rd-round selection Michael Deiter, signed his contract yesterday — ending any chance of a potential holdout for any of the team’s six rookie draft selections.

The delay in signing Deiter wasn’t out of the ordinary, numerous 3rd-round selections remain unsigned across the NFL — including wide receiver Miles Boykin, cornerback Jamel Dean and offensive tackle Chuma Edoga.

Deiter will bring versatility and toughness to the Dolphins’ offensive line, two qualities that the unity has been missing for years. With over ten starts in his college career at tackle, guard AND center, Deiter is a chess piece that will provide Miami with plenty of options for finding the optimal combination of the best five players to play up front.

Currently, Deiter is the favorite to start at left guard, where he spent his final season with the Badgers, helping the sophomore star bulldoze his way to over 2,100 rushing yards in 2018.
