Dolphins set to trade LB Kiko Alonso to New Orleans

The 4 PM roster deadline came and went yesterday without the Miami Dolphins making any formal moves on linebacker Kiko Alonso — who had already requested a trade and cleaned out his locker in Davie. So it should come as absolutely no surprise that the Dolphins have a deal in place and Alonso is on the move.

The news breaks this morning courtesy of NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero.

The exact details of the Dolphins’ swap with the Saints? Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that the Dolphins will be getting LB Vince Biegel back in return — a former Wisconsin Badgers who played the same role in college that Miami’s 2019 5th-round pick Andrew Van Ginkel filled.

Alonso will get to go play for an NFC contender, while the Dolphins add another developmental piece to throw into the mix as they hope to establish their core and role players for the long-run.
