Dolphins set to host Oregon defender Justin Hollins tomorrow

The unfortunate reality for a team like Miami is that it is impossible to address all of the needs on the roster in one shot. Hence why the front office in Miami is continuously stressing that this is going to be a multi-year process. But one thing that can help to expedite the turnaround in Miami is to get a few big hits on draft selections in the middle of the draft.

That could be exactly what Oregon pass rusher Justin Hollins is, and he’s visiting the Dolphins tomorrow as one of their designated pre-draft visits. Hollins, who was a standout at the 2019 East/West Shrine Game – he won defensive MVP – oozes with upside, is generally considered a third or fourth round selection in this year’s NFL Draft.

Hollins hasn’t been tasked with playing a lot of traditional snaps as a pass rusher, the Ducks moved him all over the place in an effort to weaponize his athleticism as much as possible. That exposure to different roles has led to some underdeveloped technical skills as a rusher, hence why Hollins may be around a little later in the draft.

This would be a great addition for the Dolphins, if the price was right. Miami’s second round pick sits at 48 overall, but their third round pick (78 overall) would be a spot where Hollins’ physical tools – he’s explosive and long, two qualities NFL teams love off the edge – would make some sense.

The team will get to know Hollins tomorrow as part of their vetting process. And in a few weeks, we will find out just how well their meeting went.
