Dolphins select Gerrid Doaks in seventh round of NFL draft

The Miami Dolphins selected University of Cincinnati running back Gerrid Doaks in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft on Saturday.

The 5-foot-11, 228-pound Doaks, taken with the 17th pick in the seventh round (No. 244 overall), is the seventh member of the Dolphins’ 2021 draft class. (See chart below.) The pick originally belonged to the Las Vegas Raiders and was acquired through the Washington Football Team.

Doaks twice led the Bearcats in rushing, both as a redshirt freshman in 2017 and as a senior in 2020. Doaks rushed for 1,712 yards on 331 carries for a 5.2 yards per carry average and 14 touchdowns in three seasons on the field in college.

Doaks also registered 36 receptions for 407 yards and four touchdown catches in college. He missed the 2018 season with a sports hernia injury.

Barring a trade, the Dolphins won’t make any more selections in this year’s draft.
