Dolphins rookie Christian Wilkins tosses 1st pitch strike for Marlins

Look out, Chris Grier. Christian Wilkins may be on his way to being a two-sport athlete at this rate! Well — not exactly. But Christian Wilkins certainly surprised last night during his ceremonial 1st-pitch appearance for the Miami Marlins. Wilkins’ first pitch was a strike on the corner of the plate — with Wilkins looking like a complete natural in the process.

And as we’ve become to expect with Wilkins, a flying shoulder bump was attempted in the aftermath.

Wilkins continues to gain favor with South Florida fans, the Dolphins have to be thrilled with the early reception Wilkins has received as the team’s face of the 2019 NFL Draft class. Of course all of that is for nothing if the product on the field doesn’t follow suit, but Wilkins’ energetic personality has helped with Miami’s youth flag football event, other volunteer hours in the community, on the practice field and now on the baseball diamond.

In short, everywhere Wilkins goes, his enthusiasm shines through. He’s easy to love — with any luck his transition to the NFL gridiron will be half as easy as his ability to capture the affections of the Miami faithful.
