Dolphins reveal grand total of impacted student-athletes during OTAs

The Miami Dolphins have spent the month of May trying desperately to catch up to the rest of the NFL on the field. But off the field? They’ve spent the month of May and the early portions of June separating themselves from the pack. The Dolphins have shared the grand total for young student-athletes who were able to visit the Dolphins over the course of organized team activities (OTAs) and mini-camp and rest assured it’s a number worth applauding.

The Dolphins hosted over 400 student-athletes from 8 different high schools over the course of OTAs, each given a tour of the Dolphins’ team facility, a motivational speech from a Dolphins alumni and a meet and greet session with today’s Dolphins after the on-field workout session was completed.

According to Miami’s Director of Youth Programs and Camps, Rashauna Hamilton, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

“Since 2017, the Dolphins have hosted 75 teams and reached over 3,400 athletes at our offseason practices,” said Hamilton. “…practice visits are possible because of the tremendous support from our owner and football leadership as we continue to be stewards of the game.”

Indeed, the Dolphins continue to be one of the most hands on NFL franchises within their community — an approach that extends their impact beyond wins and losses and instead allows them to also be a vehicle for change in South Florida and beyond.
