Dolphins release offensive guard Josh Sitton

The Miami Dolphins have released veteran offensive guard Josh Sitton. Sitton, who signed with the team last off-season on a 2-year contract, will re-enter free agency in hopes of re-establishing himself as one of the more reliable guards in all of football.

Sitton’s season with Miami did not go to plan in 2018, as he ended up missing all but one game with a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder.

The decision to cut Sitton will save the Dolphins $5M against the salary cap in 2019 and opens the door for Miami to add young talent with a more long-term focus.

Sitton, who will be 33-years old in June, hasn’t played a full 16-game schedule since 2015 with the Green Bay Packers. After spending two seasons in Chicago, the Dolphins signed Sitton in hopes that he would provide some much needed stability to an area that has provided nothing but grief for Miami in recent years.

Instead, the team got more of the same.
