These are the words of head coach Brian Flores from just ten days ago — when the Dolphins were hosting their 23rd annual Fins Weekend. Powerful words with an even more powerful message — one that Flores’ players are already taking to heart. Several Dolphins spent the day yesterday helping to renovate the home of cancer fighter Lena Mackeroy. But one of Miami’s leaders is taking the message outside of the South Florida community — and outside of the United States all together.
Running back Kenyan Drake will use some of his free time this summer to travel to Brazil. Not on vacation — but rather to work with Smile Train, a non-profit organization designed to help children who are born with a cleft lip.
This isn’t the first time Drake has paired up with Smile Train, last offseason Drake went to Mexico City for the same initiative and just last week Drake co-hosted a cocktail fundraiser for the non-profit. Drake took to social media yesterday to express his gratitude to the Dolphins for continuing to support his efforts off the field.
