Dolphins RB De’Von Achane being evaluated for knee injury

The Miami Dolphins defeated the New York Giants 31-16 on Sunday partially due to the excellent play of rookie running back De’Von Achane, who rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on 13.7 yards per attempt.

Unfortunately, Achane suffered a knee injury in the victory, head coach Mike McDaniel revealed on Monday afternoon. McDaniel said that the team is evaluating the injury, and it’s unknown whether or not he’s in jeopardy of missing Miami’s Week 6 matchup against the 0-5 Carolina Panthers.

Achane has set the world on fire since really getting opportunities in the Dolphins’ 70-point game against the Denver Broncos in Week 3. The former Texas A&M Aggie leads the league with 12.1 yards per attempt and is second in total rushing yards behind only San Francisco 49ers back Christian McCaffrey.

If Miami were to be without Achane, it would be a huge blow, but the Dolphins have some depth at the position to help get them through a drought without him.

Raheem Mostert, Salvon Ahmed and Chris Brooks are all healthy and on the active roster. Jeff Wilson Jr. is apparently nearing a return, although McDaniel said they weren’t sure he’d be back this week.

Either way, this isn’t great news for the Dolphins, who seem to keep getting bit by the injury bug.
