High school and college graduates this summer are not at liberty to enjoy the traditional cap and gown ceremonies that have become so commonplace as a celebration of the end of a chapter in one’s education. But for Crimson Tide students, including Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, today is still very much a special day — it is graduation day. Tagovailoa will “receive” his Bachelor’s degree in communication studies today as the Tide hold a virtual commencement ceremony for outgoing students.
For Tagovailoa specifically, his accomplishment is even more impressive when you consider he left Alabama this winter as a true junior — to Tagovailoa was able to complete his Bachelor’s degree in less than the traditional four-year window that most students take to complete it, all while serving as a prodigy quarterback for one of the biggest football programs in the country. If Tagovailoa has the capacity to thrive with all of that on his plate, here’s hoping things continue to move onward and upward for him as he officially makes football his full time job starting here and now.
Tagovailoa tweeted out a congratulatory tweet to all of his fellow new Crimson Tide graduates yesterday morning. No cap and gown? No problem. The diploma will do just fine, although Tua will probably need to wait a while to put his degree to good use — he seems to have a solid gig lined up for life after college.
