Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa channels his inner Carson Wentz in choosing his jersey number

NFL quarterbacks pass down tradition all the time, so it shouldn’t be a shock that as Tua Tagovailoa enters the NFL, he’s borrowed a traditional phrase from Russell Wilson and Carson Wentz.

The former Alabama star and Dolphins first-round pick chose a uniform number on Tuesday, rolling with the No. 1 after he reportedly was unable to land Dan Marino’s No. 13, which is retired.

A talented player and even more of a spiritual person, Tagovailoa referenced a phrased first used by Russell Wilson, which was then adopted by Carson Wentz in 2012.

The Eagles star signal-caller has blended the phrase into his daily life and the introductory message for his AO1 Foundation.

The phrase which is promoted by Wentz and tattooed on the underside of his right wrist, stands for “Audience of One,” meaning that Wentz, Wilson, and Tua are living for an audience of just one person – Jesus.
