Dolphins leading the way in NFL’s community service initiative

Well so much for tanking. It’s the second week of June and the Dolphins are in first place! Well — maybe this isn’t exactly what you had in mind. But regardless, seeing the efforts of Stephen Ross, Brian Flores and the rest of the Miami Dolphins organization recognized by the NFL’s Huddle for 100 Team Challenge is something Miami fans can feel good about.

Not only did the Dolphins pace the league in volunteer minutes this week, they are crushing the competition. This, of course, is aided by Fins Weekend, Miami’s golf and fishing outing a week ago that was held to raise money for scholarships and attack better graduation rates in the South Florida community.

It’s been a common theme for the Dolphins all offseason long and should be considered a source of pride for Miami fans. No matter the lows, the Dolphins are one of the franchises that remain committed to using their platform and fame for good. Championships sure would be a great next layer to add on top of blue chip efforts off the field — but all good things to those who wait, right?
