While the majority of the NFL is just getting their feet wet with off-season workouts this week, the Miami Dolphins are one of the select few teams that get to blaze ahead with more advanced coaching and workouts. It’s a bittersweet opportunity — teams on the accelerated timeline are the same ones that have had coaching changes this offseason.
The Dolphins — under the leadership of Brian Flores — may be ahead, but it is only because they are also behind. Players who are comfortable handling the bulk of the team’s playbook quickly are the ones most likely to gain favor with Flores and his staff going forward.
