It’s the most wonderful time of the year (for Madden gamers). As NFL training camps open this week across the country, we’re set to get the slow trickle of player grades for the upcoming release of EA Sports’ annual Madden game — something that has become a bit of an occasion of its own these days.
And while the game isn’t out, many players will start to strategize on who they’ll be playing with based on the new developments in player rankings. And, for the first time in a long time, it seems as though the Dolphins are going to be a fun group to put out onto the field and play with.
Why?
Because for starters, speed is everything in Madden. And Miami’s wide receiver group has plenty of that after adding the likes of Will Fuller and Jaylen Waddle this offseason. And, speaking of Waddle, he’s got another title for the opening salvo of player grades into the system:
He’s the game’s rookie WR1.
A handful of the top rookie grades were revealed over the weekend and Waddle’s 76 overall is good for the third highest grade in the entire class and the top score given to a wide receiver.

Much was made about the Dolphins decision to trade back and draft Waddle instead of staying put for Pitts (an 81 overall) or Ja’Marr Chase (a 75); but it appears as though at least someone over in the Madden ratings department thinks Miami made the right move this past April to secure Waddle.
