Dolphins’ Jaylen Waddle returns to roots in latest episode of ‘Draft House’

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is one of a handful of top 2021 NFL draft prospects who is being featured by Overtime on their video docu-series, ‘Draft House’, this summer. The objective? Follow Waddle, Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase and Steelers RB Najee Harris through the pre-draft process and document their respective stories as they brace for that life-changing night at the end of April. Thus far, the product has not disappointed for Dolphins fans who want to get to know their latest weapon.

And the latest episode is all about Waddle.

The episode starts with a feature on Waddle’s physical therapy and, interestingly, revealed the full extent of Waddle’s ankle injury from the 2020 season against the Tennessee Volunteers, too. Waddle suffered a broken bone, a ligament tear on the outside of his ankle and a high ankle sprain, which prompted Waddle receiving the same “tight rope” procedure that Dolphins teammate Tua Tagovailoa received on each of his legs throughout the course of his own respective career with the Alabama program.

But the mean and potatoes of this episode dives deep past the Waddle’s rehab program from the offseason and focuses on Waddle’s return to his roots — including both Tuscaloosa and Houston. Waddle speaks candidly about how his hometown prompted him to grow up rather quickly and rising to the challenges of a difficult upbringing.

But with the NFL draft having come and gone and Waddle’s place in South Florida secure, the young wide receiver will have the opportunity to make sure his family faces a brighter future as a byproduct of all of his hard work to reach the NFL.
