Dolphins have designated QB Tua Tagovailoa to return from IR

The Dolphins have struggled to get much going with backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett under center while Tua Tagovailoa has been on injured reserve with a rib injury that he suffered in the second week of the season in a game against the Bills.

Luckily for Miami, the team received good news before they set off for London where they will play Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Dolphins have designated Tagovailoa for return from injured reserve. Yates also noted that if he’s healthy, he can play this Sunday across the Atlantic.

Miami, without Tagovailoa, has lost all three games they’ve played. They are 1-1 in games that he starts, including that matchup with the Bills that he was knocked out of. Statistically, the Dolphins are 30th in the league in passing offense, throwing for just 191.4 yards per game and 31st in scoring offense, scoring 15.8 points per game.

Tagovailoa’s return clearly won’t solve all of the problems that currently plague Miami, but he is certainly better-suited to run the offense and brings a much higher ceiling to the unit.
