Miami Dolphins running back Frank Gore suffered a left ankle injury during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, and did not return.
Gore, Miami's lead back in his 14th season in the NFL, was injured after a 10-yard run near the end of the first quarter and needed the help of two trainers to limp toward the sideline.
Shortly before reaching the sideline, Gore limped toward the Dolphins bench on his own.
He was carted into the Dolphins locker room during the second quarter after being examined in the medical tent on the sideline.
With Gore out, the Dolphins relied on running backs Kenyan Drake, Kalen Ballage and Brandon Bolden in the run game, while Drake was also featured as an option out of the backfield for Miami's passing game.
The Dolphins finished the first quarter trailing the Vikings, 21-0, at U.S. Bank Stadium, but scored 10 points in the second quarter and went into halftime down, 21-10.
