Dolphins enter Week 3 contest as three touchdown underdogs

Surely one of these weeks the Dolphins are going to cover a monster spread, right? The Dolphins entered Week 1 against the Ravens as nearly a touchdown underdog at home and lost by 49. Week 2? That Patriots were favored by anywhere from 17.5 to 19.5 points — and the Dolphins lost by 43.

Week 3 of the NFL slate is the most cruel spread for the Miami Dolphins yet. BetMGM lists the Dolphins as 21.5 point underdogs — their highest deficit of the season. Want a silver lining, Dolphins fans? Miami’s spread is a monster — but it isn’t the biggest of the week. That honor belongs to the rival New York Jets, who are now working with their third string quarterback under the direction of former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase.

The Dolphins hope getting away from home can help prompt some more efficiency and consistency. Maybe QB Josh Rosen is exactly what the Dolphins need to scratch out some points and keep this contest under a three score deficit.

No one should be picking the Dolphins to win this game outright. But there’s enough change around the Dolphins’ roster to warrant consideration that they might just steal a cover — especially now that the spread has ballooned to monstrous proportions and the Dolphins reputation as a team in sorry affairs continues to grow.
