Dolphins DL Kendrick Norton has arm amputated after auto accident

Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Kendrick Norton was involved in an automobile accident early on Thursday morning. As reports began trickling in yesterday, the serious nature of the accident became more and more apparent — until Norton’s agent confirmed that not only was Norton involved in an accident and in the hospital and in critical condition, but he’d also had his arm amputated by paramedics at the scene of the accident in order to remove him from his vehicle.

It is the kind of news that will shellshock anyone — Norton is only 22-years old and returned to South Florida after a year with the Carolina Panthers as a 7th-round draft selection in 2018. Norton played his college football at the University of Miami.

The immediate concern for Norton is for his well-being, although reports thus far have stated that Norton’s injuries aren’t expected to be life threatening. The Dolphins themselves released a statement yesterday on Norton.

We were made aware this morning of a serious car accident involving Kendrick Norton. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kendrick and his family during this time.

Current and former Dolphins — plus former coaches and teammates elsewhere — also expressed their condolences and best wishes to Norton yesterday on social media, including former defensive lineman Kendall Langford, Akeem Spence and Panthers head coach Ron Rivera.
