Christian Wilkins is acclimating quickly to life as a Miami Dolphin. And after listening to him speak in the time since the Dolphins made him the 13th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, it is so easy to see why he was the Dolphins’ guy all along.
Wilkins stopped in to chat with the Miami Dolphins’ podcast – The Audible with Kim Bokamper and John Congemi – to talk about his first visit to South Florida as a member of the Miami Dolphins and what football means to him.
The passion for the game is such a prevalent part of Wilkins’ daily approach. It won’t be long before Wilkins is considered one of the poster children of this regime.
“…I just really love the game of football so much. It’s really such a special game. So I try to make sure I give my all into the game because that’s what it deserves,” said Wilkins when asked about football. “So I just always try to respect it, honor it, and do everything I can to make sure I’m putting my all into the game and being essentially an ambassador for the game because it’s going to be played so much longer after me. So while I’m here I want to make an impact in the game of football. Just play it the right way.”
Anyone else ready to strap up some pads and go hit? Wilkins’ infectious enthusiasm can be glossed over as cliche, but don’t underestimate the value of this mentality and what it can do when Miami is in the dog days of training camp.
Dolphins fans eagerly await to see what kind of impact Wilkins will make — but don’t expect to have to wait too long.
