Dolphins continue to be shut out of ‘NFL 100’ all-time roster

The National Football League has assembled as panel of former coaches, players, media and others to introduce the ‘NFL 100’ — a football roster of the all-time greats at every position across the first century of the National Football League. The panel, which includes legendary Hall of Fame Dolphins coach Don Shula, has officially revealed more than half of the roster and we’re still waiting for our first Miami Dolphin to make the cut.

The NFL 100 roster has currently revealed the running backs, linebackers, defensive ends, defensive tackles, cornerbacks, safeties, kicks, punters and return specialists and not a single Dolphins player has gotten the call. Based on our very own release of the top 100 Miami Dolphins of all time, the biggest snubs here belong to FB Larry Csonka, DE Jason Taylor and LB Nick Buoniconti.

Csonka served as one of the faces of the Dolphins dynasty of the early 1970s and footage of him bowling over would-be tacklers is a staple of any highlight of the Miami Dolphins’ history. Jason Taylor sits 7th all-time in career sacks and was one of the most dynamic, diverse defenders in league history.

But none make the cut for the NFL’s formal roster — although to be fair to the modern players, only four members of the ‘NFL 100’ roster played beyond the year 2010: Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis, Baltimore Ravens S Ed Reed, K Adam Vinatieri and Chicago Bears returner Devin Hester.

Perhaps the Dolphins will get a breakthrough along the offensive line, given their collection of Hall of Fame players in the trenches.
