Dolphins cancel Saturday scrimmage due to weather concerns

For the second time in as many days, Mother Nature has gotten the best of the Miami Dolphins and their fans. Yesterday’s practice was one of only ten practices the Dolphins scheduled open to the public — but weather forced the Dolphins to move the practice inside and, as a result, close it to fans.

Today’s scrimmage suffered the exact same fate, as the expected thunderstorms in the area would have made getting a formal scrimmage — including fans in the stands at Hard Rock Stadium — a logistics nightmare.

And so the Dolphins have cancelled the scrimmage all together. But the Dolphins won’t have a free day off — they’ll be back in the practice bubble today to get an extra practice in today. That practice is open to the media but closed to the general public.

There are no current plans to reschedule the scrimmage, so Dolphins fans will need to sit tight. The first opportunity to watch the Dolphins will now be next Thursday, when the team hosts the Atlanta Falcons at Hard Rock Stadium for their first preseason game of the month.

Here’s hoping Mother Nature has had enough of throwing wrenches into to the Dolphins’ training camp schedule by then.
