Dolphins Barn firefighters put out skip blaze

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn were called out to extinguish a skip fire this evening.

Although smoke did drift, the fire was prevented from spreading and there was no damage to property as the skip had been placed away from nearby buildings.

The incident was recounted on the Dublin Fire Brigade's official Twitter account @DubFireBrigade in an 11.08pm post that was accompanied by four photographs taken from the scene.

It read: "Firefighters from Dolphins Barn fire station extinguishing a skip fire tonight. The skip had been placed away from nearby buildings. Although smoke did drift, the fire was prevented from spreading. Always keep skips away from property in case of a fire."

Dublin Fire Brigade can be reached by calling (01) 222 4000 or 999 and 112 in an emergency.

The brigade was established in 1898 and has an award-winning Twitter account with just under 80,000 followers.

Further information about the brigade can be found by visiting the official website at dublinfirebrigade.ie
