Dolphins among favorites to land WR Antonio Brown, but don’t count on it

On Tuesday, Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown said goodbye to Steelers fans in a Twitter post before ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that he has officially requested a trade.

Now that Brown is set to move on from the Steel City, betting odds have been released on who are the favorites to land the four-time All-Pro. Among the favorites are the Dolphins.

According to BetOnline.AG sports book, the Dolphins are +550 favorites to acquire Brown. The Cardinals are the favorites to have Brown on their Week 1 roster at +450, followed by the 49ers at +550, tied with the Dolphins. The Steelers are second at +500 to have Brown on their Week 1 roster.

But with the regime change in Davie, don’t count on the Dolphins trading for Brown.

Although Brown was born and raised in Miami and spends his offseasons in the area, the Dolphins currently in rebuild mode. Since general manager Chris Grier and head coach Brian Flores are not looking for a quick fix, it seems unlikely they would trade potential draft picks and assets to acquire Brown, especially with all the holes the team currently has.

While the Dolphins need a No. 1 wide receiver, Brown likely won’t be the guy. So expect the Dolphins to look for receiver help via the 2019 NFL Draft.
