Dolphins' Allen Hurns 'still (doesn't) remember the game' he suffered concussion, but is excited to be back

It's been nearly three weeks since Miami Dolphins receiver Allen Hurns suffered a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 22.

And while Hurns is excited to return to action following his recovery and clearance from the NFL's concussion protocol, he said he does not have a recollection of the game or the hit that sidelined him.

"I still don't remember the game, but it's nothing scary. I've had concussions before," said Hurns, who said he suffered the fourth concussion of his career. "You have a headache, but besides that, it's nothing crazy."

Hurns said Friday he does not have any concerns about his concussion history.

He is expected to return to action Sunday against the Washington Redskins after being sidelined for the last two weeks. He missed only one game as the Dolphins had their bye last week.

"I felt really good just being back out there. Also, I just felt like I was fresh," said Hurns, who was a full participant in practices this week.

"I guess those two weeks off felt good for my body overall. It felt good to get back out there."

Hurns suffered the concussion in a collision with Cowboys safety Jeff Heath, who oddly enough sat next to Hurns in the locker room when he played with the Cowboys last season.

"Yeah, he reached out to me and just said it wasn't intentional and he was going for the ball," Hurns said of Heath. "He checked on me."

The game was supposed to be an uplifting experience for Hurns in his first game against his former team. Instead, it had the same result as his final game with the Cowboys in the NFC wild-card playoff game last season, when Hurns was carted off the field and hospitalized after a gruesome ankle injury.

"It's crazy, right?" Hurns said. "Last two times I've played there, it's been tragic. But I'm not a guy that thinks like that (will) haunt me. I feel like where I'm at mentally helped me with a lot of things.

"Of course I'd like to stay away from that place, but if I have to play there again it won't be something that lingers in my head or things like that."

While Hurns may not remember the play, he has watched replays of it.

"I've had worse," Hurns said.
