Dolphins agree to terms with rookie OT Robert Hunt

The Miami Dolphins are officially done negotiating with their 2020 rookie class. The Dolphins made 11 selections in the 2020 draft before things were all said and done, bringing in six players within the top-75 selections and rapidly infusing the talent level on several fronts of the team. Shortly after the draft, the Dolphins went to work and rapidly signed the majority of their class — but needed every bit of the buildup to the rookies coming to the team facility to get their final two picks under contract.

1st-round pick Noah Igbinoghene signed his rookie deal yesterday after agreeing to terms on Monday and now the Dolphins have checked the final box — reports this morning indicate that the team has agreed to terms with the No. 39 overall selection, Louisiana OT Robert Hunt.

Hunt is expected to compete for the starting right tackle position for the Dolphins this season — with the worst case scenario being that Hunt kicks inside and plays right guard for the team next to free agent signing Ted Karras. Between the additions of Hunt, Karras, fellow rookies Austin Jackson & Solomon Kindley and fellow free agent signing Ereck Flowers, the Dolphins’ offensive line is guaranteed to look drastically different than the one that took the field throughout the 2019 season — and based on the play the Dolphins’ line put on tape last year, that’s perhaps the best news of the offseason.

The Dolphins getting all of their rookie contracts sorted out ahead of the start of camp is a pretty nice development too, however.
