Dolphins agree to terms with 7th round pick Myles Gaskin

With Miami Dolphins rookie minicamp slated to start tomorrow, the Dolphins are working under a deadline. The team is hoping to have their six player rookie class locked into contracts ahead of tomorrow’s first day of camp. Last night started some momentum on that front — it was announced that Miami’s final pick of the 2019 NFL Draft has agreed to terms with the team.

That news, as reported by the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, is great news for former Washington running back Myles Gaskin.

Gaskin left the University of Washington as the school’s all-time leading rusher (5,323 rushing yards) and was just the second player in NCAA history to rush for over 1,200 yards in four consecutive seasons — joining former Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne.

High volume work will be much tougher to come by for Gaskin in Miami, as he’s expected to compete for the third running back role and contribute on special teams. A player that does a little bit of everything and does most of it well, there’s a clear pathway for Gaskin to be a productive pro player — he’s a solid add for Miami.

Getting a contract locked in this quickly will help to ease some of Gaskin’s transition to the pro game — such a transition is difficult enough without having to worry about contract negotiations.

Dolphins fans will get their first glimpse of Gaskin in a Dolphins uniform starting tomorrow.
