Dolphin retrieves woman's phone from the Atlantic Ocean in the Bahamas

They say dogs are man’s best friend, but a dolphin who retrieved a woman’s phone from the Atlantic Ocean is giving canines a run for their money.

Teressa Cee, a dancer for the Miami Heat American basketball team, shared a video of the moment in the Bahamas on her Facebook page.

The dancer wrote that she had asked someone to hold her phone while she swam with dolphins on the idyllic Blue Lagoon Island.

When the man looking after her phone accidentally dropped it in the ocean, Ms Cee likely thought she’d never see it again.

But the dancer was amazed when a dolphin named Cacique “retrieved” the phone and handed it back to her friend.

“Cutest thing ever! ‪#‎Unbelievable ‪#‎Bahamas ‪#‎DolphinEncounter,” wrote Ms Cee.

She later shared a photo of herself meeting a dolpin on her Instagram account.

Some 2.2million people have since watched the video, which has been shared more than 21,000 times.

Dolphins are known to be highly intelligent creatures, and often come to the aid of other injured porpoises and even humans in the ocean.
