Dolphin Bromwich suspended, Stone and Murray dodge bans

Dolphins second-rower Kenny Bromwich is set to miss one game for his hit on Taane Milne during the 36-14 loss to South Sydney.

Rabbitohs captain Cameron Murray has escaped suspension despite being placed on report twice during Thursday's match, while Ray Stone avoided scrutiny for a hip-drop style tackle that forced Keaon Koloamatangi from the field.

In the second half of the clash at Suncorp Stadium, Bromwich hit Milne high as the Rabbitohs winger attempted to field a high kick inside his own red zone.

Referee Ashley Klein sent Bromwich to the sin bin and on Friday morning the match review committee charged him with grade-two dangerous contact.

The 31-year-old can accept a one-match suspension with an early guilty plea or challenge the sanction at the judiciary and risk missing two games.

Already trailing by six points, Bromwich's sin-binning proved the final straw for the Dolphins who conceded three tries while the Rabbitohs had a numerical advantage.

He is set to miss next week's intrastate clash with Gold Coast but the Dolphins will be bolstered by the inclusion of fellow second-rower Felise Kaufusi, who returns from his own suspension.

Murray found himself placed on report twice in the first half, originally for a high shot on Jeremy Marshall-King and then for a late tackle on Kodi Nikorima as the Dolphins playmaker put a kick in.

The lock forward has been charged for only the first tackle and can accept a $1,000 fine for his grade-one careless high tackle.

Dolphins forward Stone has not been charged by the match review committee for his tackle on Koloamatangi, which put dangerous pressure on the Rabbitoh's ankle and left him hobbling from the field in the second half.

The tackle was not as grievous as other recent instances of the hip-drop tackle, an illegal move where a player swings around and places his body weight on the lower leg of their rival.

Stone's shot, which did not result in an on-field penalty, comes as the NRL ponders how to rid the game of the move which has the potential to cause serious leg injuries.

Dale Finucane, Marata Niukore and Jayden Okunbor have all faced bans for hip-drop tackles this season but last week Canterbury rookie Jacob Preston escaped suspension for his, despite being sin-binned.

For tripping Jamayne Isaako in the first half of Thursday's game, Rabbitohs forward Davvy Moale can accept a $1,000 fine.
