Dolly Parton teams up with Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry for 80 for Brady movie song

Dolly Parton  has teamed up with Cyndi Lauper, Belinda Carlisle and Debbie Harry to form the ultimate girlband and release a new song.

The iconic singers have combined their talent to record Diane Warren's track Gonna Be You for a new film titled 80 for Brady.

Dolly, 76, decided that she wanted to bring together the female powerhouses from the 1980s to sing about friendship for the soundtrack to the movie, which is based on the true story of best friends who traveled to the Super Bowl in 2017.

Speaking of the collaboration, Diane said: "When I wrote Gonna Be You for 80 For Brady, I wanted to write a song that celebrated these women's deep friendship.

"Since 80 was in the title, I got a crazy idea, why not get some of the most iconic singers from the 80s, who are still amazing and always will be, to all sing it?!!!!," she added.

Diane added: "Everyone I approached said yes and was just as excited as me! I'm honored to have Dolly Parton, Belinda Carlisle, Cyndi Lauper, Gloria Estefan, and Debbie Harry on this song! Gonna Be You is that song you want to sing along to with all your good friends!"

Belinda said that she struggled to keep her lips zipped after saying yes to the exciting project.

In a post on Instagram, she wrote: "What an honor to sing with @dollyparton @cyndilauper @gloriaestefan and DEBBIE HARRY! This secret has been hard to keep."

Gonna Be You is expected to be released on January 20, while the film 80 for Brady is set to hit cinemas on February 3.

It stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field and follows the four pals as they embark on a road trip to watch Tom Brady and the New England Patriots compete in Super Bowl.

They both belted several hits together and even shot a short sketch where Saturday Night Live stars Chloe Fineman and Sarah Sherman play their understudies.

Dolly wore a black jumpsuit with sheer material that covered her arms and legs, while Miley wore a skintight black gown that finished just above her thighs.

Both of their outfits had leopard print patterns running down the side.

Together they sang I Love Rock 'n' Roll, Wrecking Ball and I Will Always Love You.
