She will dontate the cash to several charities and use it across dozens of good causes.

The country music star was handed the 'Bezos Courage & Civility Award' by the multi-billionaire and his partner Lauren Sanchez.

Lauren described Dolly as "a woman who gives with her heart and leads with love and compassion in every aspect of her work".

The footage shows the moment shocked Dolly says: "Wow! Did you say $100 million?"

"I think people who are in a position to help should put their money where their heart is. I will do my best to do good things with this money," she added.

Dolly donated $1million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s vaccine research efforts during the height of the pandemic, the funds were partly used to fund Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine.

She has since praised Jeff and Lauren online, Tweeting: "I try to put my money where my heart is. Thank you @JeffBezos #LaurenSanchez"

Speaking of her working during the pandemic, Dolly previously said during an interview on BBC's The One Show that she felt "honoured and proud".

"I just felt so proud to have been part of that little seed money that will hopefully grow into something great and help to heal this world," she said.

Dolly added: "I’m a very proud girl today to know I had anything at all to do with something that’s going to help us through this crazy pandemic."

She created the Dollywood Foundation in 1988 before launching The Imagination Library, a scheme that helps children access books all around the world.

Amongst her philanthropic efforts in her home state of Tennessee, she also created the Dolly Parton Scholarship, which gives $15,000 (£12.7k) to students for a college education.

She spoke to reporters during the event, revealing that she still feels starstruck when meeting other celebrities.

"I’ve been starstruck a lot lately," she explained. "I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but I’m making a rock album. If I’m gonna be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I’m gonna earn it.

"I’m working on a rock album now, and I’ve been talking to Elton John, Mick Jagger, and Debbie Harry. Every time I speak to one of them, it’s just such a thrill!

"I’m gonna have a lot of the rock singers on it!"
