Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline look-a-like helps out Macmillan Cancer Support in Rutherglen

Shoppers, staff and retailers at Rutherglen Exchange shopping centre were workin’’ 9 to 5 when a Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline look-alike dropped in to support the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Popular entertainer Suzie Graham belted out hits such as Crazy in the centre in tribute to country star  Patsy, before a quick costume change transformed her into Dolly.

The country stars delighted diners at the centre’s Greenhouse Café by serving coffee and cakes in exchange for a donation to Macmillan as customers enjoyed a welcome break during their shopping trip. The fundraiser generated nearly £250 for the cancer charity.

Centre manager Jane Cowan said: “Macmillan Cancer Support deliver amazing work and, as the annual coffee morning turns 30 this year, we invited customers to have a coffee and cake on us from The Greenhouse Café in return for a small donation, if possible, in the collection box.

“We were overwhelmed with the amount of money raised from our fundraising efforts and we have our very loyal customers and supportive retailers to thank for that. “

Jane added: “The safety of our customers and team is our priority, so social distancing and safety measures were in place to ensure the fundraising activity was relaxed, safe and enjoyable.”
