Dollingstown boss Uprichard surveying walking wounded ahead of clash

Dollingstown manager Stephen Uprichard is awaiting a report on the fitness of five of his walking wounded before naming his team for the visit to Dromore Amateurs on Saturday.

The Intermediate Cup winners have been back in friendly action following a break after the July 30 final, however Saturday's 2-2 draw at Cookstown RBL resulted in a spate of injuries.

The upshot being that they now travel to Ferris Park with possibly less confidence for their first round Bob Radcliffe Cup tie than they would have otherwise done.

“Saturday was crazy, just one of those days when you wanted the final whistle to sound,” said Scobie, who the big Lurgan man is affectionately known as.

“Paddy Mooney, Johnny Kernaghan, Richard Thompson and Sean Toman all picked up injuries so it's a case of wait and see do they recover.

“We ended up finishing the game with nine men and had Aaron Duke playing centre-half.”

Duke has played in all of the Planters Park pre-season friendlies ahead of completing the move from Portadown.

“We still have to get the deal over the line but hopefully there shouldn't be a problem.

“I've also brought in defender Mark Stewart who was last with Lisburn Distillery and midfielder Matty Taylor from Newry City.

“Because of the cup final I gave the lads a longer break and to be honest we looked a little ring-rusty on Saturday.

“But if we hadn't have done that we would have risked burn out but hopefully with Saturday being a competitive game we'll get up to speed for it.”
